Augmented reality knowledge management
Augmented Reality (AR) is when objects that reside in the real world can be enhanced by computer-generated perceptual information. Information and knowledge resources can be embedded in the physical environment, or pulled on demand, to guide operators, feed them with critical knowledge at a point of need, provide knowledge on demand to remote experts, or to support remote working. Together with wearable devices it is transforming whole areas of work such as industrial production, medicine, maintenance of physical assets and infrastructure, and environmental health and safety. It is a key component in Industry 4.0, but to date, there has been little formal integration with knowledge management.
In this session, Arshad Ahmed, who is a KM consultant with Aramco in Saudi Arabia, will share his experience of combining KM principles with the use of augmented reality (AR) technologies to positively impact production and operation type applications, including health and safety considerations and lessons learning cycles. Arshad’s talk will cover the following areas:
This session will be of interest to those interested in how classical KM approaches can be combined with emerging technologies to industrial, logistics, and infrastructure maintenance activities.
