Making the journey into Data Governance - personal reflections
According to the Data Governance Institute (DGI), data governance is “a system of decision rights and accountabilities for information-related processes, executed according to agreed-upon models which describe who can take what actions with what information, and when, under what circumstances, using what methods.”
The definition is simple, but when structured information resides in many organisational systems and silos, and is constantly proliferating with new enterprise information needs, the journey into a mature data governance environment can be slow, complex and arduous. The pay-offs can be high, and the risks of not having good governance are also high. In this session, data strategy and data governance expert Irena Zadonsky, who leads the Data Governance team at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, D.C., will reflect on her two decades of working with data management, data strategy and data policy across several large organisations.
The key questions she will cover are:
This will be an interactive session, with the opportunity to share your own experience of, and your questions about, data governance implementation.

- What benefits does a mature data governance program provide?
This will be an interactive session, with the opportunity to share your own experience of, and your questions about, data governance implementation.
